Description

The discovery of the Maiasaura among remains of adolescent offspring helped confirm that large herbivorous dinosaurs cared for their young. Since then we have learned this gentle hadrosaur, whose name means 'Good Mother Lizard,' actually hatched and raised its offspring in large nesting colonies. The behavior mirrors that of some modern seabird species.
