Facts
One of the largest terrestrial mammalian predators ever, the Arctodus stood around 10 feet tall on its hind legs and could weigh over 1900 pounds!
On all fours, the Arctodus is tall enough to look a human in the eye.
Arctodus is also known as the short-faced bear.
Arctodus went extinct around the same time as most prehistoric megafauna. One theory for this extinction is that these large predators were muscled out of evolution by smaller, faster hunters.
