Description
Alamosaurus is one of the largest dinosaurs known to have existed, with adults growing to a length of 20-25m and weighing up to 80 tons. Native to North America during the late Cretaceous period, Alamosaurus is an herbivorous sauropod with armored spikes on its back that protect it from predator attacks.
Discovery
The first Alamosaurus specimen was unearthed in 1921 by a team including the famous American paleontologist Charles W. Gilmore, with subsequent fossils found across the southern United States. This genus takes its name from the location of its discovery – the Ojo Alamo Formation in New Mexico.
Paleoecology
Alamosaurus first existed around 70m years ago in the southern United States and shared its habitat with many other genera of dinosaur including Ojoraptorsaurus, Torosaurus and the infamous Tyrannosaurus. The genus had large, blunt teeth for stripping trees and other vegetation, while stones found inside the ribcages of some specimens may have been swallowed to help break down fibrous plants.
Cohabitation Preferences
Behaviors are scripted in game files but are not guaranteed to happen. Dominance, territory, and traits determine whether they would actually fight.
